Hi people! I posted a poll on Instagram some weeks ago in order for my followers vote about what topic they would prefer I write. The options were:

The results were:

According to the results, today I will speak about the new design of the LGBTIQ+ flag.

If you don't know anything about what it is LGBTIQ+ community, I suggest you read the whole article. If you know what LGBTIQ+ community is, I suggest you read the article since "The new model of the LGBTIQ+ flag and the new parts' meaning.

Summary about the LGBTIQ+ abbreviation and a short history about its beginning (general knowledge)

To start, the LGBT movement started in the 70' decade in the United State as a movement that demanded rights for gays, lesbians, transsexuals and bisexuals people that were silenced or "hid" in many cultures in the world.

This movement belongs to the third-wave feminism, a movement that has been demanded equity and rights between men and women to the society since XIX century of an official way, and even since XVIII century in an indirect way.

The LGBT movement got a lot of rights in its short period of time, such as the recognition about having a different sexuality isn't a mental ill (1990) and the conquest of many rights in some countries, such as equal marriage. However, the fight for rights and equality that they deserve is still being a current and polemic topic, even more in countries where equal marriage is illegal and even, in some parts of the world, there is the death penalty for being gay, bisexual, transgender, etc.

Another thing that was obtained for this movement was the recognition of the Pride parade, that is celebrated each 28th June.

The LGBT flag before this year used to be the next one:

LGBT flag

The LGBT abbreviation means lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transsexuals.

Short, that is the basic things that people should be known. But, if you don't know what it is "gay", "bisexual", etc, you could look for the meanings on the internet or investigate that.

The new LGBTIQ+ flag's model and the meaning of the new parts

On the 28th June of this year, this new flag was exposed. It was designed by Daniel Quasar in the United States.

The new LGBTIQ+ flag

The new abbreviations are IQ+ and mean Intersexual and queer. Basically, intersexual people are those people that physically have reproductive organs of the male and female sex. In other words, they are the famous "hermaphrodite". In another hand, the "Queer" people are those ones that don't feel identified with the binary genre's models: man-woman. And the abbreviation + means the inclusion of more people that are silenced.

According to the different pages where I was reading, the black and brown colours represent those people who are discriminated because of their race. The light pink, white and light blue colours represent the transgender community.

The fact that those colours are in an arrow form is not something innocent because it has the meaning of progress. Maybe, you will wonder yourself: why? Well, it turns out those represented people by those colours, in each society, are the most discriminated people and, for that reason, the arrow's sign represents the hope of the progress in matters of rights and equality.

My opinion about this new design

I love it. However, as an Argentinian and a Latinoamerican person that I am, I consider that it would be a good idea that a new version of the LGBTIQ+ flag comes out. A new flag where people from the original town (indigenous people) can be part of the LGBTIQ+ community because they are the worst discriminated group in the society and day after day, they suffer social exclusion, marginalization and discrimination not to speak an European language (Spanish - Portuguese - English) and they are repressed with the objective that they lose their own language and culture.

I'd like that a day those people are included in the Pride movement and everybody fights for their rights.

To end, I hope this post has been enough informative one. If you enjoyed, let me an opinion below and share it in the social networks to more people can read it and get information about this topic.
